The Zhang Xue Story
From humble beginnings to international racing
Personal Journey
Zhang Xue was not born into motorsport. Growing up in a small town in China with no racing culture, his passion for motorcycles began the moment he saw his first race on a grainy television screen. Without access to proper training facilities or financial backing, he taught himself mechanics by dismantling and rebuilding second-hand engines in his backyard.
What sets Zhang Xue apart is not just talent — it is an unwavering belief that Chinese manufacturing can compete with the world's best. While others saw limitations, he saw opportunity. While global brands dominated the sport, he quietly built a team, a factory, and eventually — a brand.
There is a well-known episode in the racing world: as a young man desperate for teams and media to notice him, Zhang Xue once chased down a media interview car on a motorcycle he had pieced together and modified himself from scrap parts. While all the other riders proved themselves with speed on the track, he — with no resources and no connections — could only rely on the rawest approach: a self-built motorcycle and sheer stubbornness, tearing after the interview car, just to fight for a chance to be seen. This moment still resonates with people to this day.
Today, Zhang Xue Moto stands as a symbol of what passion and perseverance can achieve. From backyard repairs to the WSBK grid, this is a story that continues to inspire riders and engineers across China and beyond.
